Beauty not only saves the world, but also noticeably cheers up! On February 25, the new show “Beauty Battle” will start on the TNT channel, where hairdressers from all over the country will compete for the title of the best. In addition, participants will not only cut, color and edit, but also pass demanding tests. The project was moderated by singer Natalya Chistyakova-Ionova (Glyuk’oZa). In an exclusive interview with VOICE, the artist spoke about her role in the “battle”, the main flaw of beauty in life and patience as an important quality of a good parent.
– Natalie, you have never hidden that you like the subject of beauty and self-care. You even had a blog on the subject once. Why are you interested in “Beauty Battle”?
– I have to admit right away that I am simply shocked by these tests! I would like to see how the participants cope with them, how they behave in difficult situations, how they cope with the set tasks. You know, I had to work with different masters, the best in our city. I will not speak for the whole country, because there are unique guys who do not want to go to Moscow, they have everything arranged in their homeland, but I know it best in the capital. I’m also interested in seeing some fresh blood. Who appeared in the world of professionals?! After all, almost every second hairdresser, stylist or make-up artist is on social media today. As they say, and otolaryngologist and tarologist and some other “ologist”. But who are the real pros?

– You talked about the tests that the participants will undergo. What role will you play in all this? Maybe help them?
– I have the role of a conductor between the jury and the participants. So how can I help participants? I won’t do their hair! Although I can if needed. Of course I will support the boys. I understand that for every person who came here, it is a huge and very important life chance. Maybe thanks to the show, the whole fate of a person will change. It is important to me that everyone has a pleasant impression at least from communicating with me. Of course, I will not go around and just praise, say how good everything is. But I’m not the judge, we have a jury for that. I will support the boys and ask the referees to comment on their scores, any attacks or praise them.
– What qualities do you think the winner of the project should have?
– First of all, this profession needs strong nerves. This is where it all starts. Secondly, it is important to be able to work in a team. For example, as we have today on the set: both makeup and hair at the same time, while someone keeps coming and asking something, it gets in the way. Stylists often work in large teams and find themselves in stressful situations. On set, they rarely do hair first and makeup second, all at the same time. Especially if we are talking about working with in-demand people who don’t have time. A stylist also has to be flexible, you can’t just bend the line. Even if you are a super professional, you still work in the service industry. Here it is very important to listen to the client’s request and be able to adapt to it. After all, a person most often does not represent the final result. For example, he shows a picture: “I want this!” And he has a different eye shape, hair color and even skin color. You know how sometimes they post a link with makeup on a dark skinned girl. But you obviously won’t. If you blindly copy, you will get “Cherkizovsky boutique”, while the same makeup looks great on a dark-skinned girl due to a completely different look.
– Over the years of your career, you’ve experimented a lot with both hair and makeup. What would you say is your biggest mistake?
– I had a very funny story a few years ago. My friend and I flew to Chechnya to open an aqua park. Then all kinds of hair bells and whistles that you can attach to yourself were just appearing on the market. And a friend opened my eyes to the fact that you can use artificial strands with your own. I didn’t even think it was possible! I decided that I just really need that kind of hair! I took the phone from her and also bought… But I had a bob while I bought waist length hair. I recently found a photo: in front of the square, everything is long at the back. You can see that it is all fixed, it looks ridiculous! I thought I looked perfect then, but now it’s ridiculous. Of course it was a mistake! Today, we can color our hair however we want, cut it, do different stylings, but I’m still a supporter of not undermining it. If you use artificial ones, then it needs to be done well so that they look natural. Well, you can either wear a red wig or a purple wig on purpose. Like, for example, Lady Gaga, where shocking is part of the image.
– Psychologists often remind you that it is important to accept yourself in any form. From the outside, you seem to be a very harmonious person. Is it true? How are you doing with admission?
– To be honest, I’m not sure if everyone is told “Admit yourself!”. If you come to a psychologist, then a long and difficult work on yourself begins. The specialist helps you get to know yourself better, pushes you to make some decisions, including changes. Also, I don’t think you have to accept everything in yourself. If there is a desire, for example, to lose weight or get better, and everyone has their own goals, you must strive for them. If you like your own reflection in the mirror better after some changes, then why not?! It doesn’t happen like this: I don’t like myself, but I accept it.
– In one of your recent interviews, you said that you consider it important to communicate with young people in order to always be in the know, to keep up, and also to be enthusiastic about things that adults often hesitate to do. Obviously, in your case, the youngest are near the daughter. What do you learn from them?
“You know, kids polish me like a diamond every day. Before I gave birth to them, I was like a rock and they gave me an incision. It turned out that I did not know anything and did not know how, I did not understand my own abilities and resources. I had no idea that I would want to learn new things so much! I didn’t know I could be so pliant, attentive and caring. But the children are also very trained.
– Patience?
-And him too! I used to say something to my oldest daughter all the time, but now I’m learning to keep quiet. Yes, and with the youngest, she is almost twelve years old, it also happens. I’ve learned that sometimes you just have to shut up. There are mothers who won’t shut up, and conflicts arise based on that. Here it is: “Yes, how many times are you going to tell me that!” Sometimes I want to say something, but I give them the opportunity to draw their own conclusions and have an emotional experience.
– It is hard to believe that your eldest daughter Lída is already 15 years old. Five years ago I interviewed you right at home and your oldest daughter hid under the table and motioned for me not to reveal her! It was very nice.
“Look, she’s all grown up!” Lída is about to release an album soon, we are all madly waiting for this moment. There are songs like that! I have a very favorite one called “No Hassle”. The lyrics and music were written by Lída herself and it’s just the bomb! I keep saying, “Hurry up and play my favorite song!”
– Were you prepared for your daughter to want to follow in your footsteps so quickly?
“Everything happened quite naturally. The child wants to sing, it can be felt that she likes it very much. I think the main thing is that children like what they do, and parents should support them in any endeavor.
Does he listen to your advice? Or transitional age and that’s it?
– At the moment, dad is a bigger authority than me for her. She listens to him more.
– And speaking of hair and makeup, are the girls ready to accept your opinion?
— Lída has her own style, she moves according to her own laws. Although, if something involves some subtleties, he can ask me. But Vera is like me! Genes, of course, a terrible thing! I am shocked! Just recently it happened: everyone has already washed and undressed, gone to bed and suddenly I notice red lipstick on her! Well, where?! Although, you know, red lipstick is something special for me, I can put on makeup at home – and immediately I feel like the most beautiful woman on the planet.
– I agree, it has some special effect!
– Yes, it’s true! Basically, all kinds of “beauty” move and uplift me. My grandmother was the same way – she doesn’t go anywhere and doesn’t wait for someone to come to visit, but she keeps winding the curlers. It helps you feel like a woman. Faith even there: why go to bed with this lipstick?! Night in the yard, everyone goes to sleep, but I want!
– When you were just starting your career, an artist without a good producer had almost no chance. Now many people have become famous because of the internet. Recently, the show “Sweetie” started on TNT, where the stars remake the songs of just such authors into big hits.
Yes, I know about this show! It’s very interesting and I always like stuff like that where you have to guess who’s singing.
– And speaking of internet stars. Have you ever found some unusual clips on the World Wide Web or learned about a completely new artist for yourself?
– You know, there is a singer Elvira T, her first songs just cracked me up. So I found out about her exactly as you say – I just happened to hear about it on the Internet. Unfortunately, I don’t remember most of the names, although the songs may be very well liked and also appear on the same YouTube in some way. For example, this one, “You are Venus, I am Jupiter…” by Vanya Dmitrienko, was also accidentally captured.
– The show “Sweetie” is largely about a creative experiment not only for the author, but also for the artist. Do you yourself want to try something completely new, unusual for you?
– Totally atypical – definitely not. They call me in a show where you need to survive, I refuse. See, I ate all these larvae in Fort Boyard, I don’t want this anymore, there’s no excitement. Although the team spirit is strong in me, and if I find myself in such conditions, then I will not stop, if necessary, I will go to the windows. If we talk about my role as a TV presenter, it’s still not completely new to me. In the past, I worked on the show “Children’s games” and also moderated many events. I don’t do it every day, so there’s a slight tension there now. And what other adventures can there be?
– Creative, for example!
– And that’s what I love! Maybe I just love all kinds of unusual collaborations. Recently, we sang the song “Sníh se točí” together for the project “VK pod kojichem” and Escape. It turned out well and was interesting to work on. Additionally, arrangements were made by Gazgolder’s team. It was also unexpected.
– Well, well, if we start talking about the desire for a new one. What would you like to do in the future that hasn’t happened yet?!
– Of course, I would like to develop in cinema. I sometimes act in films and for some reason I would really like to work in a military film, which has not happened yet. Of course, I see this picture directly: kirzachi, winter, cold, mud, and I am rolling in some kind of ditch. But I want to try! I recently re-watched The Dawns Here Are Quiet and it is of course an absolutely brilliant piece of work. I’m interested in movies, so write it! Let everyone know I’m open to suggestions!
