Kostomarov ended his amateur career a long time ago, but before his illness he was actively performing in ice shows. For a professional athlete, amputation is certainly a terrible loss. However, Roman and his family consciously went into it – now the main thing is for the skater to survive.

Well-known prosthetist Andrei Nakonechny noted that in our country there is a high level of prosthetics, all the necessary technologies are available, while it is possible to perform all the necessary operations and undergo rehabilitation at the expense of budget funds.

“If we talk about the idea of ​​walking close to nature, given the low level of amputation, then from the beginning of the prosthetic process, young guys, physically well prepared, have the opportunity to move without additional support in a week,” Nakonechny said.

According to the expert, the technology has reached such a level that people do not even notice when a person with lower limb prostheses walks past them. But if a person can adapt well in everyday life and in many types of activities, everything is much more complicated with sports.
