Welch died on Wednesday, February 15 in Los Angeles. “According to family members, Raquel died this morning after a brief illness,” TMZ reported.
Reese Witherspoon commented on the tragic news. “Sad to hear of the passing of Raquel Welch,” she wrote on her personal blog. I loved working with her on Legally Blonde. She was elegant, professional and incredibly charming. Simply amazing. May all the angels carry her home.”

Jo Raquel Tejada was born on September 5, 1940 in Chicago to an English mother and a Bolivian. At 19, she married James Welch, whose name she began to use in her later career.
She is best known for the film One Million Years BC (1966), in which she played a prehistoric “bikini girl” named Loana. Raquel won a Golden Globe for her role as Constance Bonacieux in the film adaptation of The Three Musketeers (1975). Welch played her last role in 2017’s How to Be a Latin Lover. She has got a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Raquel was considered a sex symbol of the 1970s. After filming in Playboy magazine, she received the unofficial title of “the most desirable woman on the planet”.
In 2013, Brits ranked Welch as the third most curvy actress and model. She was second behind Marilyn Monroe and Kelly Brook.
Raquel had four marriages. The last one ended in 2003, after which she vowed to start a relationship. The actress has two children – 63-year-old son Damon and 61-year-old daughter Tanya. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Tanya appeared on the cover of Playboy in 1995.
