The People’s Artist of Russia died after a serious illness. The directorate of the Union of Cameramen of the Russian Federation announced the death of Vadim Abdrashitov. Their words were confirmed by the cameraman’s son-in-law.
“It’s true, yes, he died… Oncological disease… It all happened in the evening,” Kirill Vytoptov told RIA Novosti.
Another source close to the director explained that his health took a sharp turn after he contracted the coronavirus.
Actor, director and public figure Yevgeny Gerasimov noted that Abdrashitov was his close friend. He expressed his condolences to family and friends. Gerasimov turned to the director’s wife Natella Toidze.

“I love, I adore his wife. Stamina. You are such a single space in our cultural firmament,” Yevgeny Vladimirovich turned to the widow of his friend, reports Channel Five.
Vadim Yusupovič Abdrashitov was born on January 19, 1945 in Kharkiv. In 1970, he joined the directing department of VGIK. After shooting the film “Stop Potapov!” as a term paper, he was invited to work at Mosfilm. There he met the director and screenwriter Alexander Mindadze, with whom he made 11 films together. The films “Plumbum, or a Dangerous Game”, “The Train Stopped”, “Fox Hunting”, “Planet Show” brought Abdrashitov the greatest fame.
Abdrashitov taught at VGIK. Among his students are Petr Buslov (“Boomer”, “Vysotsky. Thank you for being alive”), Alexei Mizgirev (“Duelist”, “Kulagin and partners”), Yegor Anashkin (“Perfect marriage”, “Life on loan”) . .
The only wife of the director was Natella Toidze, an artist, full member and academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. The couple raised two children. Daughter Nana graduated from RATI, works as a theater designer and scenographer. Son Oleg, graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and Columbia University, works in IT.
In December 2021, Vadim Abdrashitov attended the funeral of Alexander Gradsky. “An old old friend, a wonderful man, the smartest and wisest man.
