The fire happened at night. 911 received a call from the couple’s home, but the call was disconnected before the dispatcher could get enough information about what was going on.
Firefighters followed the call and headed to the house, which was already on fire. A couple and their pet were found dead. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the incident happened around 2:20 in the morning.
Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said the focus of the fire was in the kitchen and living room and the fire was very heavy. “While inspecting the premises, firefighters found a lifeless man, a woman and a cat in the burned house,” Humphrey was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. Firefighters said the house did not have a working fire extinguisher.
