Boris Ostrobrod, the founder of the clothing chain Sela, drowned while driving a car in a lake

His cousin and co-founder Bernd Arkady Pekarevsky said about the death of Sela founder Boris Ostrobrod. He explained that Boris could not get out of his car.

“Tragic accident – I was driving a car along the lake at my house in Latvia, the car slid into the lake, overturned and Borya drowned,” said Arkady.

The businessman’s son confirmed what happened, which he also described as a tragic accident. “God took him to himself,” said the man.

The businessman’s funeral will be held in Israel. The approximate date of separation is called February 19.

Sela was founded in 1991, first supplying clothes to supermarkets in St. Petersburg, and seven years later it opened its first own store. After 20 years, the brand had over 600 stores across the country. In 2019, an agreement was reached to sell Sela: the brand was bought by Melon Fashion Group (MFG), which already owned the brands befree, Love Republic and Zarina.
