Stars Who would have thought! Spears, Sheeran and other stars who sang in the church choir

Tina Turner

The singer, whose real name is Anna Mae Bullock, sang in the church choir in her hometown of Nutbush, Tennessee, as a child. Her father was a Baptist deacon. After her parents divorced when she was ten, Tina lived with her grandmother and stopped going to church.

John Legend

A singing career began in the choir of a nearby church in Springfield, Ohio. John grew up in a family of church musicians, so it wasn’t difficult for him to join the band (as well as learn to play the piano). He directed the church choir in Scranton while in college.

Britney Spears

The singer got into the Mickey Mouse Club show at the age of 11, where he performed alongside Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake. But Britney’s first performance was at a Baptist church when she was just eight years old.

Justin Timberlake

By the way, Justin also soloed in the church choir led by his father Randall. It was in Memphis, Tennessee, and Timberlake’s parents had already divorced by then.

Avril Lavigne

Despite the fact that the singer’s work is far from pious church songs, she also developed her vocal skills in the local choir of the Canadian city of Napanee, Ontario.

Katy Perry

Orlando Bloom’s pregnant bride spent her entire childhood in the church choir — singing from age 7 to 15! And all because her parents were evangelical preachers in their native Santa Barbara, California. At the age of 16, she even recorded an album of Christian songs, but it did not gain popularity.

Ed Sheeran

The famous singer started his career in the church choir very early – at the age of four! It happened in the English city of Suffolk and lasted about two years, after which Ed learned to play the guitar and left the choir.

Jessica Simpson

The father of the singer and actress was a priest, so long before the MTV reality show, Jessica performed in the church choir in Abilene, Texas.

Whitney Houston

The legendary singer is the daughter of gospel singer (black church song) Sissy Houston. Whitney began singing at New Hope Baptist Church in New Jersey at the age of 11. In 2012, her funeral was held here (the singer was found dead in a hotel room, drugs were found in her blood).
