At the time of the filming of Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi film Jurassic Park, 13-year-old Ariana Richards was already quite a successful actress. Her father was a film producer, so it’s no surprise that Ariana, who grew up in the world of Hollywood, started acting as a child. She started like many others in advertising and in 1987, at the age of 8, she made her film debut.
In 1992, she won a Young Actors’ Award for Best Young Actress in a Television Movie for her role in Changed at Birth.
And so Steven Spielberg invited Ariana to play Lex Murphy, the granddaughter of Professor John Hammond, who planned to create a fantastic park with dinosaurs. The audience immediately remembered and fell in love with the intelligent Lex, fascinated by the computer, who at first was terribly afraid of wild animals, then bravely resisted the attacks of ancient lizards and saved her younger brother.

Fame fell on the young actress, for which she was not at all prepared.
“I wasn’t prepared for a huge number of people to recognize me every day. I couldn’t even have a quiet lunch somewhere – people lined up to talk to me, “the actress admitted.
This role became the most iconic in the biography of Richards. Ariana also appeared in the sequel – the tape “Jurassic Park: The Lost World”, released in 1997, and then suddenly disappeared from the screens.
Ariana did not want to continue her career in Hollywood – actors who became famous in childhood often lose interest in the “dream factory”.
Richards moved on to painting. Perhaps the actress’ genes took their toll, as her maternal grandmother, of Italian descent, was a descendant of the Renaissance artist Carlo Crivelli.
Ariana now owns her own art gallery in Portland, Oregon. She is married to stuntman Mark Bolton and they have a daughter together.
“Sometimes I have my finger on the pulse of what’s going on in Hollywood, but more often than not I’m just completely absorbed in what I create on the easel,” she told the Wall Street Journal in 2011.
By the way, one of her paintings hangs in Steven Spielberg’s office.
Richards stays away from the high life, but she made an exception for the premieres of the park’s new dinosaur movies — you could see her on the red carpet.
