
Several devastating earthquakes hit both countries today. In Turkey, according to the authorities, 2,824 buildings collapsed. The number of victims was more than 1100 people, 7634 people were injured.
Malatyaspor footballer Eyup Turkaslan died under the rubble. Turkish journalist Tarik Ojden informed about it.
“Former chairman of Malatyaspor Adil Gevrek said in a statement to Sabah Spor that he received information that Malatyaspor goalkeeper Ahmet Eyüp Türkaslan has died,” the journalist said on his social media page.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the earthquake the strongest natural disaster in the country since 1939. According to the Turkish leader, the magnitude of the tremors was 7.7 points.
Currently, there are up to 45,000 Russian organized and independent tourists in Turkey. About 25-30 thousand of them – in Istanbul about 12-15 thousand – in the resorts of Antalya, as well as a total of up to a hundred tourists on the coast of the Aegean Sea and ski resorts in Turkey. Information about the affected Russians is not yet available.

In Syria, the earthquake killed 371 people and injured 1,089 others. Nasub Arnus, sister of Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnus, died in a house collapse. The tragedy occurred in Hama province in the east of the country. Along with Arnus, 11 of her children and grandchildren were under the rubble of the building, all of them died.
