At the beginning of the novel, Megan and Harry traveled together and even visited Botswana, but the prince decided to propose in a familiar environment, choosing a moment that many may find completely unromantic and banal.
It all took place in a cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, which became Meghan and Harry’s first shared home in 2017. The lovers were in the kitchen and Megan was preparing her signature dish – fried chicken.
The delicious aromas apparently convinced the prince that he had found the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Harry got down on one knee and asked if Meghan wanted to marry him.
Was this a clever trick on Megan’s part? Unknown. But the recipe definitely worked. Here’s what Megan later said about him:
“There is nothing more delicious and impressive than perfectly fried chicken. It works wonders. I bring this dish to parties and make a lot of friends with it.”

You will need one gutted chicken. It should be washed and dried. Then the chicken should be liberally peppered and salted inside and out, stuffed with quartered lemon, cloves of garlic and thyme and brushed with olive oil. Next, you need to tie the legs with kitchen string and put the chicken itself in the baking dish. We can add chopped lemon with onion or radish to the chicken dish, season with two tablespoons of olive oil, one teaspoon of salt and half a teaspoon of pepper. Bake everything at 220 degrees for about one hour and 15 minutes, until the juice runs out.
Transfer the chicken to a plate, cover with aluminum foil and let rest for 10 minutes.
Well, it’s time to call your prince to the table!
