But the producers were concerned about O’Toole’s health, so Michael Gambon was cast in the role.

Tim Roth

The actor applied for the role of Severus Snape, but the filming overlapped with the film Planet of the Apes, which seemed more promising to him. The role went to Alan Rickman.

The “Titanic” star was tapped to play the ghost of Helena Ravenclaw. But her agent turned down the offer on her behalf. The role was won by Kelly Macdonald and in the next film by Nina Young.

Robin Williams

The actor wanted to play Rubeus Hagrid. According to Warner Brothers, he was perfect, but Rowling was against an American in the role, so Robbie Coltrane ended up playing Hagrid.

Tilda Swinton

The actress claimed the role of Professor Trelawney, which suited her very well. Unfortunately, the filming schedule fell through and Emma Thompson played Sybil Trelawney.

Big subsidy

The actor was approved for the role of Professor Goldilocks Lokons in the movie “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.” But due to a scheduling conflict, Hugh couldn’t make it to the set, and Kenneth Branagh played the role.

Rosamund Pike

The Gone Girl star auditioned for the role of journalist Rita Skeeter. But she was played by Miranda Richardson.

Naomi Watts

The actress was invited to play the role of Narcissa Malfoy, Draco’s mother. But her agent turned her down without explanation and the role went to Helen McRory.

Liam Aiken

Few people remember that the role of Harry Potter did not always belong to Harry Potter. The film studio insisted on the candidacy of Liam Aiken, but JK Rowling did not want to see non-British actors in the main roles. So American Aiken was never approved.
