Record 604.8 thousand dollars: Princess Diana's velvet dress became the most expensive in the history of the Sotheby's auction

An evening dress of eggplant color was put up for auction: experts estimated the outfit at 80-120 thousand dollars. But the lot was eventually bought for 604.8 thousand dollars, making this dress the most expensive in the history of the auction.

Designer Victor Edelstein was the author of the elegant outfit with gold buttons. The princess wore this outfit for the first time in 1991, appearing in it in an official photo with her husband. Six years later, Lady Dee posed in this dress for artist Douglas Harding Anderson for pictures in Vanity Fair magazine.

A month before her death, Diana sold her clothes at an auction for 24 thousand dollars: the entire amount was spent on charity. This time the dress was auctioned from a private collection.

Meanwhile, two portraits by Spanish artist Francisco Goya were sold at Christie’s auction. The value of the land exceeded 16 million dollars. The paintings show Maria Vicente Barruso Valdez on a sofa with a small white dog and her mother Leonora Antonia Valdez de Barruso holding a fan. Both women were not aristocrats, but representatives of the bourgeoisie. It was at the beginning of the nineteenth century that the Spanish bourgeoisie began to commission their portraits from artists to emphasize their own importance.

Recently, Kim Kardashian became the owner of a beautiful piece of jewelry that used to belong to Princess Diana. Except for the former wife of the British king, no one wore it.
