“She went to heaven to her daughter and sisters”: Grammy winner Anita Pointer died of cancer 01.01.2023, 12:00

Today it became known about the death of a famous American singer. Anita Pointer died on December 31st. He has been battling cancer in recent years.

Anita buried the closest people. Her only daughter, Jada, died in 2003 of pancreatic cancer. She was 37 years old. The artist’s sisters also died. June died in 2006 and Bonnie in 2020.

Her death was reported by Anita’s close relatives. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Anita,” they said. “But we are delighted that he is now with his daughter Jada and sisters June and Bonnie. Heaven is a more beautiful place now that Anita is there. She was the one who held us all together for so long. Her love for our family will live on in all of us.”

The Pointer Sisters were formed in the late 1960s. At first it was a duet – it consisted of Bonnie and June Pointer. Anita soon joined them. And in 1972, sister Ruth joined the team, turning the group into a quartet. Her biggest hits are Fire, He’s So Shy, Slow Hand, I’m So Excited and Jump. The group won three Grammy Awards. Anita left the band in 2015 due to ill health.

The singer was married twice. She married David Harper at the age of 17. On April 9, 1966, Anita gave birth to a daughter, Jada. In the same year, the artist divorced.

In October 1981, Pointer became the wife of Richard Gonzalez. However, even this marriage failed. After the death of Jada, the artist raised her only granddaughter, Roxy.

Anita was set to become a member of The Masked Singer Season 6 in October 2021, along with her sister Ruth. But a serious illness prevented her from doing so.
