
Eduard Nikolayevich spent the last weeks of his life in the hospital. The composer was hospitalized at the beginning of December. Artemyev was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia. According to the doctors, the cultural personality was in a moderate condition.
The sad news of the composer’s death was announced by his son Artemiy, TASS reported. A day earlier, the man explained that Eduard Nikolayevich was transferred to the intensive care unit.

“He doesn’t have Covid. There was pneumonia. Now the treatment has already been prescribed, we have already set our own tasks in this regard,” Artemyev the younger quoted Izvestiya as saying.
Eduard Artemyev was born in Novosibirsk. He received his education at the Moscow Singing School and the Moscow Conservatory in the composition class. Eduard Nikolayevich wrote music for more than 200 Russian and Soviet films. Artemiev collaborated with Andrei Tarkovsky, Nikita Mikhalkov, Andrei Konchalovsky, Karen Shakhnazarov and Stanislav Govorukhin. The laureate of the state awards of the Russian Federation created musical works that were performed at the Olympic Games in Moscow and Sochi.
