Anna Wintour was born in London in 1949. From a young age, the girl was interested in fashion and, of course, journalism, because her father ran the famous English newspaper London Evening Standard.
Right after school, Anna started working in a fashionable London clothing boutique and after a while became an assistant in the fashion department of Harpers & Queen magazine. Her rapid rise up the career ladder can only be envied: three years later, Wintour was appointed to the post of deputy editor-in-chief, but a conflict with the new editor forced her to quit.
And then Anna moved to New York, where she began to work with Harper’s Bazaar, Savvy, New York. And in 1988, her dream came true: she was appointed editor-in-chief of the American version of Vogue and has been its undisputed leader ever since (and that’s 34 years!).
In recent years, Anna Wintour has become an authority in the world of fashion, her words are listened to, she is adored. In the films, her unchanging image – primarily a cropped bob and Chanel sunglasses – is often used without her name being mentioned. Everyone understands what it’s about.
