Few people know that Natalie Varley’s debut role was the role of student Nina from the legendary film “Prisoner from the Caucasus”. Surprisingly, before this picture, the actress had never acted in films: Natalya played in the circus.

And yet director Leonid Gaidai decided in favor of a non-professional actress. He was humbled by Natalie’s natural artistry. Together with the legendary trio of Vitsin-Nikulin-Morgunov and Alexander Demyanenko, an incredible team showed up.
Gaidai had called his wife ugly all his life, but she didn’t take offense – why?
Varley fell in love with everyone – the audience and the critics. What cannot be said about other interpreters of the role of Nina.
In the 2014 version of The Caucasian Prisoner, student Nina was played by Anastasia Zadorozhnaya. The creators of the film unanimously assured that their work is not a remake, but of course the audience still compared the original and the new version. And… Zadorozhnaya lost. Many have noted: Anastasia lacks the charisma that Natalia had.

“Escape, catch up, fall in love” is a 2015 film whose plot is painfully reminiscent of “Prisoner from the Caucasus”. The story goes like this: Boris runs away from his Austrian bride to the North Caucasus, where he accidentally becomes the music teacher of a local girl, Nina. Nina does not want to marry the groom found by her father and tries her best to delay the wedding. Boris helps her in this: he decides to steal Nina according to the local custom, and now they are forced to hide not only from her fiancé, but also from Boris’s suddenly accepted bride.

The girl Nina was played by Lyubov Aksyonova. Failure awaited not only the film itself, but also its main character. That’s how it goes.
