Vera Glagoleva was one of those artists adored by everyone without exception. Films with her participation are reviewed with pleasure even decades later, and her own directorial work collected and still collects only enthusiastic reviews. Vera did not have much time and died too soon: on August 16, 2017, her battle with stomach cancer ended.
On January 31, 2022, the artist would have celebrated her 66th birthday. Unfortunately, fate had its own plans. However, for fans, Vera continues to live – in films, in photographs. VOICE has collected rare pictures of the late actress as well as little-known facts about her.
Vera is a native Muscovite

Vera Glagoleva was born in Moscow in 1956. The future actress and director grew up in the very heart of Moscow – on the Patriarch’s Ponds, where in the 1930s her grandfather Nakhman Belotserkovsky was given an apartment for the development of a high-speed balloon train.

I got into the cinema by accident.

A lucky break introduced us to the talented actress Glagoleva. In 1975, assistant director Rodion Nakhapetov saw Vera in the Mosfilm buffet and invited her to audition for the film “To the End of the World …”. During the casting, the film crew was so impressed with her talent that the girl was immediately approved. This was her film debut. And the director of the film soon became her husband and the father of her two daughters: Anna and Marie.

autodidact

Vera built a dazzling career in acting and directing, all the more surprising that she had no proper education. Her arrival in the cinema was an accident, and yet Glagoleva was so convincing on the screen that the directors did not need confirmation of her talent in the form of a chorus from a theater university.

The best actress of the USSR

In 1986, Soviet Screen magazine named Vera Glagoleva the best actress in the Soviet Union. This happened after the release of the film “Marry the Captain”, where she played photojournalist Elena Zhuravleva. Vera woke up famous and her fame never faded. In 1995, Glagoleva became the Honored Artist of Russia and in 2011, the People’s Artist of Russia.

Athlete and beauty

Věra owes her thin figure not only to her genes, but also to her love of sports. Initially, Glagoleva planned to connect her life with him. Few people know that Vera was a master of sports in archery and was also a member of the youth team of Moscow.
“I was a tomboy, I was friends with my brother Boris’s classmates. We played all kinds of outdoor games for hours, I was even the goalkeeper of the yard soccer team. Here are calories and burned, “the artist admitted in an interview.
