The Italian documentary photographer was shocked by the public’s reaction to the photo shoot. According to him, none of the brand leaders saw anything reprehensible in her. Gabriele admitted that he received death threats after the photo shoot, calling him a pedophile.
“I can understand if we’re going too far or not, but in that case I trusted Balenciaga and I didn’t see anything too bad,” Gabriele told The Guardian.
The children’s parents were present at the filming. Brand employees saw nothing questionable in the equipment for shooting, which was later considered similar to BDSM.
It turns out that the shooting style was originally thought out: then instead of children, there were mannequins. The producers approved it, and the employees of the brand came along with the children for the photo shoot.
