The Russian Ministry of Justice published a list of new foreign agents. It turned out to be the owner of the “Crystal Owl”. Askerov flew out of Moscow in the spring: he returned to his native Azerbaijan. Rovshan assured that he managed to take one suitcase with things with him, and two hours after the decision to depart, he was already at the airport.
Criminal proceedings were initiated against the expert: he was accused of attempting to rehabilitate Nazism and of slandering Marshal Georgy Zhukov. According to this article, he faces up to 5 years in prison.
The investigative committee emphasizes the need to respond harshly to attempts to desecrate or humiliate the blessed memory of the defenders of the homeland.
In addition to Rovshan, Dozhd TV channel journalist Mikhail Fishman, public figure Rostislav Murzagulov, philosopher Ruben Apresyan and The Bell were also included in the list of foreign agents. In total, there are 499 persons in the register of the Ministry of Justice, including organizations and media.
Criminal proceedings against the expert were initiated in April. Rovshan Askerov assured that he only wanted to write a contribution on a historical topic with his thoughts.
