Iconic outfit: Meghan Markle's engagement dress was 513 times more expensive than Kate Middleton's dress

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton looked stunning in the official photos taken to celebrate their engagement to the prince. However, Harry’s fiancee’s dress was unimaginably expensive compared to William’s modest fiancee.

Kate Middleton and Prince William announced their engagement on 16 November 2010. On 12 December, official photos of the happy couple posing at St James’s Palace were released. The future Duchess of Cambridge chose a simple white dress called the Nannette Dress from British retailer Reiss. It is no longer on sale, as it was part of the autumn collection of that year, retailing at an affordable price of 159 pounds (11 thousand rubles).

Not surprisingly, the model was sold out immediately after the photo was published. Later, Reiss remade the dress so that other women could add a stylish royal piece to their wardrobe. The ruffled bodice was elegant, in keeping with Kate’s style.

The fitted silhouette accentuated her chiseled figure. She accessorized the dress with a stunning sapphire engagement ring and elegant pearl earrings. The make-up chosen from the heir to the throne was done with a light blush, smoky shadows on the lids and pink lipstick on the lips.

Seven years later, William’s younger brother announced his engagement to an American actress. Megan appeared in official shots on December 21 in a luxurious dress from Ralph & Russo worth 56,000 pounds (3 million 941 thousand rubles). This full length dress is from the famous designer’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection.

The creators described it as “a black tulle gown with a silk organza skirt, hand appliquéd with a silk tulle ruffle and embroidered with gold feathers.” At the moment, according to Express, dresses can only be purchased on an individual order.

Meghan wore a luxurious three-diamond ring given to her by Harry. She refused other decorations. She was given a glamorous makeover with a touch of bronzer and blush and dark smoky shadows. Meghan’s catwalk style was a far cry from Kate’s look, but both brides looked stunning. Their only similarity was their hair, they both had their hair styled over their shoulders in loose waves.
