Elizabeth II, Queen of Great Britain, deeply respected traditions, observed etiquette and strictly monitored her reputation in society. But even with this caution, various situations occurred during the years of her rule that she would most likely prefer to forget (and at the same time erase them from the society’s memory). Let’s talk about them
Taxes paid – sleep well

In 2017, news leaked to the media that Elizabeth II. she didn’t pay taxes. The Queen reportedly invested $13.1 million in offshore funds located in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda. This information shocked the world community. “The Queen takes millions abroad while some of her citizens sleep on the streets,” wrote disgruntled citizens. Fortunately for Elizabeth, the scandal was quickly hushed up.
From aspen – oranges
Elizabeth managed to harmoniously combine family and work: as queen, she was a mother four times. And yet, some gaps in the education of the monarch are noticed by the subjects to this day. So, in the early 2000s, the Queen’s only daughter, Princess Anne, was fined £500 because one of her dogs attacked two children. People then considered the punishment too mild and blamed the queen for everything – they said she was trying to scare her daughter.

“This is the first time a high-ranking member of the royal family has been convicted of a crime, and no other current member of the royal family has appeared in court in the past 100 years,” the media wrote. By the way, this episode was not the first and far from the last crime on the part of Anna. The princess herself did not suffer much from her antics, which cannot be said of the queen.

By the way, Prince Andrew, the middle son of Elizabeth II, is also good, although some call him the most scandalous figure in the royal family. Anti-rating began to develop in 1982, when journalists announced that he “brought home a porn actress” – it was Koo Stark. Well, the most high-profile scandal was the connection between Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein.

Grandma bad behavior

In March 2021, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s revelations about how they were treated at the palace sent the world into a daze. Most of all, the public was hurt by the story of the Sussexes about the racist prejudices of members of the royal family. Where was the queen looking? – was the question on the Internet. “The issues raised, especially the racial ones, are troubling. While some memories may differ, they are taken very seriously and will be dealt with privately by the family,” was all the palace replied. According to rumors, the queen was painfully worried about her grandson’s statement.
No entry for unauthorized persons

When Buckingham Palace is mentioned, it seems to be an impregnable fortress and no one can ever get there. However, the security of the palace was not ideal and they managed to slip past the bodyguards. And so, in the summer of 1982, 32-year-old Michael Fagan entered the Queen’s bedchamber.

To do this, the man climbed over a 4-meter wall with barbed wire and then climbed into the palace through a drain pipe, where – oh luck! – it just turned out to be an open window. This episode in Fagan’s life made him famous for life: he gave dozens of interviews, telling what kind of nightgown Her Majesty was wearing and how she behaved when she noticed the intruder.
The funny thing is that an almost identical incident happened to Queen Victoria: a certain Edward Jones broke into her bedroom and, among other things, managed to steal Her Majesty’s underwear!
