Jekatěrina Volková devoted ten years of her life to the theater studio of a film actor. After the institution came under the leadership of Nikita Mikhalkov, the 40-year-old actress lost her job.
The acting role of Vera Voronin in the popular sitcom always tried to be realized not only on the screen, but also on the stage. Ekaterina has a special approach to working in the theater – this is invaluable experience and live communication with the audience.
For more than 10 years, Volkova played on the stage of the Theater Studio as a film actor. In 2017, it was led by Mikhalkov. According to the artist, the new artistic director has completely changed the ensemble. “For a long time it was said that Mikhalkov would come and take the building. And here he came. He told us, “I didn’t recruit you, it’s not for me to fire you.” And so it happened – he did not fire us, but it was done on his instructions, ”complained Volkova.

The actress was most outraged by the methods used by the Oscar-winning director’s subordinates. So Catherine was invited to the theater to sign a new contract. In that rush, she signed the papers and moved on. A week later, she was confronted with the truth – it turned out that she herself, without reading the document, gave the reason for the dismissal.
“It said I had to be in the theater 24/7 because we never had anything like that! They told me: “Kat, you will still be fired according to the article for absenteeism, it is better to leave alone,” the artist recalled in the YouTube show “We need to discuss” with Laura Dzhugeliya.
As a result, Volkova did not turn to lawyers and did not go to court. She did not want to get involved in secret intrigues and trials with the director of the film “Burnt by the Sun” and his entourage. Now the actress travels the country with several productions, plays in films and receives job offers on television.

Star Voronin makes every effort to realize himself in this profession. However, in that situation, Catherine was most worried about her colleagues, for whom work in the theater was almost the only source of income.
“Absolutely everyone did. It was very embarrassing. Okay, I’m leaving, I’ve got somewhere – I’ve got work to do. And the guys with foam at the mouth did it, they started writing on social networks, there was a scandal. And yet they were all removed. It took 13 years and… bang! The graduates of the school are nowhere, they are not employed,” added the star of the film “Short Waves”.
