Yan Tabachnik was born on July 31, 1945 in Chernivtsi to the family of a front-line soldier. He started playing the accordion at the age of ten and at the age of 16 became a performer in the Kyiv circus. He worked in the Astrakhan and Kalmyk Philharmonics, the Georgian Philharmonic, the Philharmonic of the South Coast of Crimea and was a soloist in jazz bands. He released five albums with Melodiya. Tabachnikov’s songs were performed by Ludmila Gurchenko, Valentina Tolkunova, Joseph Kobzon, Vakhtang Kikabidze and other artists. Alexander Oleshko recently sang his hit “Two Birches” on the show “Three Chords”.

In 1995, he opened the Yan Tabachnik Music Theater in Odessa and five years later the Yan Tabachnik International Creative Center in Kyiv. He was the general producer and host of the international television project “I have the honor to invite.”
Tabachnik was a Doctor of Philosophy at the European Academy of Informatics in Brussels. He held honorary professorships at several music universities, including conservatories in Donetsk and Tel Aviv. His wife is the 51-year-old People’s Artist of Ukraine Tatyana Nedelskaya.
