It seemed that all that could connect Natalya Vavilova with the cinema was the proximity of the Mosfilm film studio. The parents’ apartment was located near the main domestic “dream factory”. The actress was born into a large family of diplomats, and of course she was destined for a completely different fate.
Parents even tried to ban their daughter from acting in films. For example, in the film “Moscow does not believe in tears”, we may not have seen Vavilova at all. On the eve of filming, mom and dad practically isolated their daughter from contact with the filmmakers and forbade him to pick up the phone. Vladimir Menshov was desperate – he had already worked with Vavilova on “Rally” and now saw her only as the daughter of the main character of the new film.
The case was saved by the personal charm of actor Alexei Batalov, who also participated in the film. He came to Natalia’s parents and convinced them to let their daughter go shooting. Seeing her success, her parents did not even insist on entering MGIMO – they allowed her to go to VGIK, which Vavilova graduated in 1984.

During and after training, the actress actively acted, but in 1986 a fateful incident occurred, which ended her future career.
On the set of Nikolai Podvoisky’s film, Vavilova fell from her horse – the assistants did not bring to the scene an animal with which the actress had already trained, but a stallion with a sore back. Of course, he immediately dropped the rider. Director Yuri Boretsky, in a panic, begged Vavilova not to complain and say what happened on the set, and in return promised to wait for the actress until she recovered. But in reality he behaved differently. Only a few days later, Vavilova was already informed that another actress was taken in her place.
This incident was a big disappointment for Vavilova. Mental trauma is more difficult to heal than physical trauma. The actress took a long vacation, which she spent with her loving husband Samvel Gasparov (by the way, she met him at the premiere of the film “Moscow does not believe in tears”).

However, the break also did not help – on the contrary, Natalya felt even more that she was moving away from the world of cinema and acting again, when she remembered the betrayal of her like-minded people, she had no desire. As a result, Vavilova starred in two more films in the early 1990s, one of which was her husband’s, and ended her career.
Since then, the Soviet star hardly had any contact with the press and devoted himself to gardening and charity. Not so long ago, the actress was left completely alone: her husband died in 2020, she has no children.
