
Elena Milashina and Alexander Nemov flew to Chechnya today to announce the verdict on Zarema Musaeva, the wife of former judge Said Jangulbaev, accused of assaulting a district police officer. Ombudsman Taťána Moskalková turned to the investigative committee in connection with the cruel beating of Milashina and Nemov. On the orders of Ramzan Kadyrov, the journalist and lawyer will be transferred from Grozny to Beslan.
The head of the Union of Journalists of Russia condemned the attack on Elena. “An attack on a journalist is unacceptable. We hope that the law enforcement authorities will make every effort to punish those responsible for this attack,” said Vladimir Solovjov in an interview with Reedus.

State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein also commented on the incident. “Attacks on journalists (regardless of their status) are criminal and unacceptable. The State Duma Committee for Information Policy is in full solidarity with SZHR and HRC in this regard. We will also send a call to the General Prosecutor and the TFR to take this investigation under special control!” said the deputy.
The Akhmatovsky District Court in Grozny today sentenced the wife of the former judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya, Zarema Musayeva, to 5.5 years in a penal colony in the case of violence against a police officer and fraud. “As for the summary of crimes, by partial addition of punishments, Musaeva 3.A. to impose a sentence of five years and six months in prison, to be served in a penal colony of the general regime,” Judge Musa Ediev announced the verdict.

The verdict coincided with the demands of the prosecution, which demanded 5.5 years for Musayev in a general regime colony under Part 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of violence against a representative of the authorities) and Part 3 of the Criminal Code. Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).
