Lunar beauty: why supermodel Nadia Auermann disappeared from the catwalk and what the Stars are doing now

Nadia Auermann’s career began exactly as many girls dream – with a chance but fateful meeting with a scout. The beautiful blonde was spotted by a modeling agent in a cafe shortly after graduating from school in her native Berlin.

Other events developed with incredible speed. In 1990, when Nadia was 19 years old, she moved to Paris, where she signed a contract with the famous Elite agency. Photographs by Ellen von Unwerth, Richard Avedon, Peter Lindbergh, Helmut Newton, an appearance in George Michael’s “Too Funky” video, the cover of American Vogue catapulted Nadia Auermann into the ranks of supermodels of the 90s. To this day, the blonde, along with Claudia Schiffer and Heidi Klum, is considered the most famous and successful German model.

By the way, her famous compatriot Karl Lagerfeld once compared Auermann’s beauty to moonlight. The “cold” charm of the model was truly hypnotic. From 1997 to 1999, Nadia was also included in the Guinness Book of Records as the owner of the longest legs among female models. Their length is 112 cm, subsequently the record was handed over to Ana Hickman.

It seemed that with such data, Nadia should remain in modeling, but the catwalk star set her priorities differently.

Modeling was never everything to her – she always wanted a family and children. At the end of the nineties, it was time to make a choice. In 1997, she gave birth to a daughter, Cosima, with media manager Olaf-Bjorn Tietz. Unfortunately, the relationship quickly went bankrupt, but already in 1998, the model married actor Wolfram Grandezka, and they had a son. After seven years, the marriage broke up.

Of course, such a beauty as Nadia Auermann did not stay alone for long. This time, however, the model decided to be more secretive. The public does not yet know the name of her current husband, a psychiatrist from Bonn, but they have been together for a long time and are raising two daughters who were born in 2010 and 2013. By the way, Nadia also kept her last pregnancy a secret – the fact that at that time the forty-two-year-old model became for the fourth time by the mother, everyone found out later.

Today, Auermann occasionally attends social events. Of course, she had changed over the years and her weight fluctuations were noticeable – especially during pregnancy. But the ex-model is completely calm about this.

“If you decide to have children, it’s perfectly normal to have a few extra pounds on your side,” she said.

She doesn’t plan to return to the industry, but Auermann has raised her replacement anyway. Her eldest daughter Cosima also tries herself as a model: the girl played for glossy magazines and, by the way, also managed to pose for the legendary Peter Lindbergh, who also shot her mother (recall that the photographer died in 2019).
