Former Italian Prime Minister and AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi dies in hospital of leukemia

Silvio Berlusconi, the founder and permanent leader of the Forward Italia party, who headed the government three times, has died. His heart stopped at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.

Berlusconi spent 45 days in the clinic due to pneumonia and leukemia. According to Corriere della Sera, he was released a few weeks ago but returned to hospital last Friday.

Silvio was hospitalized with pneumonia in early April. Doctors discovered that the politician has chronic myelomonocytic leukemia, against which a lung infection developed. The politician was undergoing chemotherapy.

Vice Prime Minister and head of the Italian Foreign Ministry, Antonio Tajani, said the day before that the condition of the former Prime Minister was not a cause for concern. “He underwent an examination and will be released from the hospital in the next few days,” Antonio told La Repubblica.

The politician was married three times, he has two children from his first marriage: a daughter and a son. In his second marriage, he became a father three times. The divorce proceedings dragged on for a long time: Berlusconi tried to reduce alimony for his ex-wife from 3 million euros a month. The former owner of the Milan football club got married for the third time this spring. His chosen one is 53 years younger.

Silvio maintained friendly relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The politicians also communicated outside of work matters: Vladimir Vladimirovich and his family visited the Italian at his villa in Sardinia, and Berlusconi visited Putin’s dacha in the Moscow region.
