“People commit deeds and meanness”: Alexander Robak presented the disaster film “Bullfinch” in Moscow 06/07/2023, 06:30

Cinema center of the capital “October” hosted the star-studded premiere of the film “Bullfinch”. Alexander Robak took part in the event. Movie actor “Brother-2” avoids social gatherings. He wasn’t even at the premiere of the movie “Honest Divorce-2” – Agata Muceniece presented the film without her partner. Roebuck explained why he appeared in public this time.

“”Bullfinch” – for me the most significant work in my entire creative career, – assured Alexander. “It’s an incredibly well-written story. In my opinion, the picture very clearly reflects the times in which we live now. I feel like this fishing boat is a big metaphor. On the old rusty ship live completely different people who are capable of both feats and meanness. They save other people’s lives. But I don’t consider it a performance. This is imprudence, bordering on stupidity.

The legendary couple also attended the premiere. The 82-year-old director of the films “Belarusian Railway Station” and “For us with you” Andrey Smirnov stepped on the red carpet accompanied by his wife, 74-year-old actress Elena Prudnikova (known to many viewers thanks to the role of Katya Tatarinova in the drama “Two captains”).

Movie disaster “Bullfinch” is based on a semi-banned novel by Georgy Vladimov “Three minutes of silence”. With major censorship cuts, it was published in 1969 in three issues of Nové Mír. Then the writer was accused of defaming the workers of the fishing profession and the Soviet fishing fleet, and the editor-in-chief of the magazine, Alexander Tvardovský, was fired.

Drama director Boris Khlebnikov (he previously directed the hits Arrhythmia, Storm, Ordinary Woman and others) moved the plot to our time. Two sailor graduates end up on the Snegir fishing boat. The crew of seasoned men are hostile to strangers. Only boatman Gennadij (Alexander Robak) helps them. 19-year-old Nikita (son of director Makar Khlebnikov) is bullied by Yurts (Timofey Tribuntsev).

A fatal incident on board brings shame to all crew members. Then the ship gets caught in a violent storm and miraculously does not sink to the bottom. Fishermen save not only the vessel, but also their Norwegian colleagues who find themselves at sea.

In April, the psychological drama became the opening film of the International Film Festival in Moscow. Some critics saw symbolism in the tape, an allusion to the ship – Russia, which invades the waters of another country, falls into a storm, but not only does not sink to the bottom, but also helps foreigners survive. Roman Abramovich allocated the funds for the creation of the picture four years ago.

“I’m not sure if the film will be perceived by the audience exactly as I intended,” said Boris Khlebnikov. “I will not be surprised if the meanness of the team is forgotten, and only that people are ambiguous, of course, but they took it and did the feat – they saved other fishermen. But for me it’s not performance, it’s narcissism. They see this storm as luck and feel like good people again after this act.

Film “Bullfinch” will be released tomorrow, June 8th.
