Volvo teased EX30: a new hit?

Volvo releases the first images of the EX30. The all-electric SUV could well become a very popular model in the Netherlands.

After all, the Volvo XC40, which is said to be positioned just above the EX30, is a successful model in our country. However, the XC40 is also available with fuel and hybrid powertrains. There’s also a new electric model of the XC40: the Recharge.

Similarities Volvo EX30 and EX90

Enough of the XC40, because Volvo is now all about the EX30. Although little of the design is visible, the EV seems to have design cues from the EX90. The EX series will therefore have a different family face than the XC models.

For example, the headlights of the two models are very similar. Whether the Volvo EX30 will also have pop-up headlights is unclear. The taillights are also reminiscent of the bigger brother.

As far as you can see, the interior is very minimalistic. The 12.3-inch screen doesn’t stand out, but those are the smudges you see in the dashboard. This plastic appears to be recycled. After all, Volvo states that the interior of the EX30 consists largely of renewed materials.

In addition to the two images, Volvo also shows a sketch of the EX30’s center console. The part has extendable cup holders, giving you more room in the center tunnel if you don’t want to lose your coffee and phone in the console.

A nice feature, but not really something to buy or leave the Volvo EX30 for.

Same platform as Smart #1

The Volvo EX30 will be unveiled on Wednesday 7th June. The car is reportedly based on the same platform as the Smart #1 – also a Geely product.
