Dive into the price list: the BMW iX1

BMW is also expanding its range of fully electric models. For example with the BMW iX1, the electric brother of the X1. Let’s get acquainted by looking at the price list.

Some all-electric BMW models are completely self-sufficient – i3, iX – but most are (still) closely related to a model that also has petrol engines. The new BMW iX1 falls into the latter category. That’s just an all-electric version of the regular X1.

Technical data BMW iX1

That doesn’t change the fact that the BMW iX1 was developed as a (partial) electric car from the start. In terms of specifications, the model can therefore easily keep up with competitors that are only offered as electric vehicles. The iX1 has a range of a decent 440 km (WLTP) and the power consumption is also reasonable at 16.8 kWh/100 km. The 68 kWh battery works with 286 V and is of course also suitable for fast charging.

Engine performance is also important, especially with a BMW. Two electric motors provide all-wheel drive and a system output of 230 kW (313 hp) and 494 Nm of torque. Although the car is quite heavy for its size at 1,985 kg (but what EV isn’t?), it still hits 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Top speed is limited to a modest 180 km/h. Well, still more than enough for the Netherlands. Other variants of the BMW iX1 are not yet available, but are expected to come.

Prices BMW iX1

The BMW iX1 is the cheapest all-electric BMW. Or cheapest, depending on how you look at it. The price list starts at 55,127 euros for the launch edition and 57,850 euros for the regular version. The BMW X1 with a petrol engine is available from 50,721 euros, so that’s not all that different.

Equipment BMW iX1

Standard equipment on the BMW iX1 is essentially the same as the BMW X1 with a petrol engine, apart from a few EV-specific things, of course. For example, the 11 kW on-board charger and a function that brings the battery to the optimal temperature for fast charging, for example. The interior can also be brought to a comfortable temperature before departure.

Versions BMW iX1

We will put together a BMW iX1 according to your wishes. We use the cheap Launch Edition as a basis. As an xLine (57,622 euros) it looks a bit more luxurious, but we save for the M Sport package (59,123 euros). It just looks the best in our opinion. If that is important to you or not: With the M sports package, only subtle blue accents in the radiator grille refer to the all-electric drive. And of course the type designation.

exterior decoration

Then we come to the body colors. Of course we will replace the default white with something else. For an additional 1,050 euros you can choose between a more luxurious white, black, grey, a kind of dark grey-green and clear dark blue. For 1,550 euros there is a choice of dark gray or a kind of sea green. For matt dark gray you pay 2,495 euros extra. In combination with blue and sea green, the last blue exterior accents are also omitted (option for other colors at no extra charge). The iX1 is also available in dark green, orange and another shade of blue, but these colors cannot be combined with the M Sport package. We opt for the available dark blue.

With the M sports package, you roll on 18-inch alloy wheels (instead of 17 inches) as standard; 19- and 20-inch alloy wheels are also available as an option. We like the design of the 20-inch rims, but they will be very large. Therefore, we still stick to the standard rims. Finally, we also check the black mirror caps (option at no extra cost).

interior design

The standard Alcantara/Sensatec upholstery is fine in itself, but very black. As an option without a surcharge, the upholstery is completely from Sensatec and for a surcharge of 102 euros there is a choice between black, off-white, dark brown or perforated red. For 1,321 euros there is a choice of leather interior in off-white, black or dark brown. Although it’s probably a somewhat contagious substance, we opt for white Sensatec.

The dark aluminum inner frames can be replaced with light aluminum or high-gloss black free of charge. For eucalyptus wood you pay 140 euros. We’re sticking with the standard inner frames.

Packages and individual options

In the option packages, the Comfort Pack is available with, among other things, a Harman Kardon audio system and additional adjustment options for the front seats for 1,295 euros. We don’t need the Travel Pack (1,395 euros, including panoramic glass roof and tinted glass), Premium Pack (1,794 euros) and Innovation Pack (3,114 euros).

Many of the individual options are already standard or part of one of the packages that we don’t want. As individual options, we only tick: additional Shadow Line elements (267 euros), the automatically dimming interior mirror (181 euros), steering wheel heating (202 euros) and seat heating in front (374 euros).

Assemble the BMW iX1 yourself

The assembled BMW iX1 now costs 62,494 euros. Still comparable to the same petrol engine version or a comparable model from a competitor brand. No wonder the BMW iX1 is already popular. You can put the BMW iX1 together yourself at www.bmw.nl. You will also find the complete range of equipment and prices there.
