Hyundai i20 – This driving highlighter has received an update

The life of an Autovisie editor isn’t always a cakewalk. Because how do you write a beautiful internet story about the Hyundai i20, a small exciting car that gets a small exciting update?

Well… the color is nice. Let’s start with that. And for a compact hatchback, the Hyundai i20 looks pretty good with its sharp creases and lines, five-spoke Ninja wheels and Zorro’s sword-embossed taillights.

Hyundai i20 now with LED headlights

But the i20 has been updated. According to Hyundai, it would have a different grille all round and modified bumpers. Let’s take that for granted because we don’t see it. The headlights now work with LED technology.

As befits a facelift, a couple of new body colors are available: Lucid Lime Metallic (the bright yellow in the photos), Lumen Gray Pearl and Meta Blue Pearl. The i20 is also available in black, red, green, white and grey.

Optionally with 10.25 inch digital cockpit

It comes standard with analog clocks behind the steering wheel, with an optional 10.25-inch digital cockpit. Also available are an equally large touchscreen on the center console (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and a wireless phone charger.

The Hyundai i10 has all the usual safety features on board. Other options include: Blind Spot Collision Assist (prevents collisions when changing lanes) and Smart Cruise Control (uses navigation to anticipate bends and roundabouts, for example).

Two mild hybrids with three-cylinder turbo

In terms of the engine, everything remains the same, with a 1.2 MPI with 84 hp and two mild hybrids with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo (100 or 120 hp) in the delivery program.

The 1.2 MPI is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. If you order a mild hybrid, you have the choice between a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and a six-speed manual transmission with coasting function (if you let off the gas, it disengages the engine).

Production of the updated Hyundai i20 will start in Turkey in the third quarter. It is not yet known what the prices will be on the Dutch market. The current i20 is available from 17,595 euros.
