When you buy this watch you will receive a Porsche 718 Spyder RS

Nice watch, isn’t it? The watch was designed by Porsche Design and handcrafted in Porsche’s own manufactory in Switzerland. Oh, and whoever buys it gets a Porsche 718 Spyder RS too.

This is a model we’ve been seeing coming for a while. Simply put, it is the open variant of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, with the same high-revving, 500 hp and 450 Nm strong 911 GT3 engine on board. However, the 718 Spyder RS is slightly lighter: 1410 kilos.

Porsche 718 Spyder RS is 5 kilograms lighter

It’s only 5kg lighter than the Cayman, so the impact on performance is minimal. Both accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of over 300 km/h. The open Spyder is a bit “slower”: 308 versus 315 km/h.

Air inlets left and right at ear level

The Cayman GT4 RS is deafeningly loud, especially since the engine’s air intakes are positioned directly behind the occupants instead of the rear side windows. We are excited about the sound experience in the Spyder.

Because it also has the air intakes at ear level, left and right behind the cabin. And with the missing roof, you can optimally hear the sound of the lightweight exhaust system. The engine’s rev limiter only kicks in at 9000 rpm.

Can only be ordered with PDK transmission

Like the Cayman GT4 RS, the Spyder RS can only be ordered with a PDK dual-clutch transmission. The box can also be operated alone, using paddle shifters behind the steering wheel or with the poker on the center console.

No rear wing, but a ducktail

Up front, the 718 Spyder RS is very similar to the GT4 RS, with the same aero elements and carbon fiber reinforced plastic front fascia. The Spyder doesn’t have a rear wing, but it does have a pretty eye-catcher.

Two-piece manual top

The latest Porsche does not have an electrically operated top. The soft top consists of two parts and has to be removed by hand, making it 16.5 kilos lighter than the roof of the 718 Boxster.

Mechanical lock on the rear axle

Porsche has given the 718 Spyder RS an active sports suspension lowered by 3 centimeters as standard. Also included is Porsche Torque Vectoring with a mechanical lock on the rear axle. Ride height, camber and anti-roll bar are adjustable.

Optionally with Weissach package

The Weissach package is optional. That adds a lot of carbon fiber details. In combination with the package, customers can also opt for even lighter wheels made of forged aluminum.

Porsche will unveil the 718 Spyder RS in the Netherlands in July. It is not yet known what the model will cost. The Cayman GT4 RS costs at least 246,300 euros, so the Spyder should also be around this amount.
