Pull the champagne off the shelf! This Hyundai goes into production

Our Monday afternoon blues are gone. And we suddenly feel like champagne. Because when the coolest concept car in years is nominated to go into production, we celebrate. Long live the Hyundai N Vision 74.

Okay, blow your arm. The manufacturer has not announced that the N Vision 74 will be available. We picked up the news from the Korean newspaper. It states that Hyundai will organize a pony day in Seoul on May 27th.

That would be the day that the production version of the N Vision 74 would be unveiled, possibly in sketch form only. We expect a little disappointment, because the road car will probably not be as extreme as the study.

And yet, if the basics of the Giugiaro-esque design remain, we’re happy. Because the N Vision 74 is a wonderful retro creation with DeLorean characteristics.

Inspired by the pony coupe concept

It is actually inspired by the Hyundai Pony Coupé Concept, which was launched in 1974 as the very first car from the then-new Hyundai brand. The pony was drawn by Giorgetto Giugiaro in the typical wedge style of the 1970s.

The wonderful powertrain does not reach series maturity

The N Vision 74 has a wonderful powertrain that probably won’t make it to production. It has two electric motors on the rear axle, which together deliver 681 hp and 900 Nm.

They draw their electricity from a 62.4 kWh battery, which can be charged at a charging station, and from a fuel cell. The N Vision 74 sprints to 100 km/h in 4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h.

The production car is expected to have a conventional electric drive. The ones from the Ioniq 5 N, for example. With a power of 585 hp, it would perfectly match the spectacular shapes of the N Vision 74.
