It is not recommended to throw diesel into a gasoline car or vice versa. Several motorists are therefore quite angry at the Haan petrol station on Parallelstraat in Rotterdam-Overschie. There they accidentally mixed up petrol and diesel.
According to RTV Rijnmond, Facebook is bursting with frustration. Motorists had to take their stuttering car to the workshop after filling up with E10 (95 euros).
Gasoline and diesel exchanged at gas station Rotterdam
“Who has problems with the car and refuels in Haan?” asks a user. “They supplied wrong fuel.” It quickly turns out that others also suffer from poorly starting cars, jerky engines and white smoke from the exhaust.
Several cars with the same problem have already arrived, a workshop owner told RTV Rijnmond. He’s already got six, the man says, and there’s two more to come anyway.
Fuel must be removed from the system and refilled
They are all petrol cars that had diesel fuel in their tanks. The fuel has to go out completely and then the petrol has to go in. “Some cars are still running,” says the garage owner, “but I also have a Fiat 500 that no longer works.”
It all depends on how full a tank was when it was refilled. If half of it was petrol and then diesel is added for the rest, the car may run rough, but it can keep going.
The gas station is investigating what happened
At the Haan gas station, they investigate what went wrong. According to their own statements, they will handle everything completely and properly with the customers concerned.
