The new Mercedes E-Class has an illuminated EQ front
The unveiling of the new Mercedes E-Class, scheduled for today, didn’t quite go according to plan. Earlier in the day, images leaked of the new Mercedes, which appears to have received an EQ front.
With that, the design language of the non-electric models also appears to be moving more towards the design that we’re seeing on Mercedes’ EQ models. The black border that connects the “grille” of the Mercedes EQ models with the headlights can also be found in a weaker form on the new Mercedes E-Class.
The new Mercedes E-Class
In addition, EQ-like headlights are also finding their way into the E-Class. In addition, the new E-Class is equipped with door handles that hide in the door to make it a little more streamlined. Despite all this, the E-Class, which has been on the market under this name since 1993, retains its striking silhouette. The front doesn’t seem to dip as far as in the EQ models, and the very steep roofline isn’t reserved for the E-Class either.

So all of this was already known when the digital world premiere of the new Mercedes E-Class started at five in the afternoon. There was also little that was new about the interior of the E-Class, as the brand had already revealed in February. Then the E-Class emerged as an attempt to appeal to a younger audience by outfitting the interior with a selfie camera. The car even has TikTok and AngryBirds. The latter feels a bit like a high school teacher trying to be hip.
New lighting
What became clear during the digital unveiling? Well, the Mercedes E-Class EQ-style grille turns out to be illuminated. We see that more often these days, including with this other German automaker: BMW. Cupra does things differently, introducing an illuminated logo on the all-new Tavascan. But we digress. Let’s get back to the E-Class, which also has renewed taillights. These light units now include the brand logo. Coincidentally, because you can also see that on the new Cupra Tavascan.
