Why the fastest Polestar isn’t the most horsepower model

Polestar unveils the all-new 4, the brand’s fastest car to date. Despite the sprint time, the electric car is cheaper than the 3 Series and doesn’t have as much power as the 1 Series.

Although the Polestar model range appears simple with the names 1,2,3 and 4, it is more complicated than, say, Volkswagen. For the Germans, the ID.7 is positioned above the ID.5.

The fastest Polestar

The Polestar 4 is a lot smaller than the 3 and slightly larger than the 2 (2,4,3, so) Of all the Polestar models, the 4 is definitely the fastest car.

The electric car has an output of 544 hp and 686 Nm of torque. In this case it is the Long Range version with two electric motors. Although the Polestar 1 has more power and torque (600 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque), the all-electric 4 sprints faster from 0 to 100 km/h. The zero-to-100 sprint is gobbled up in 3.8 seconds. The acceleration only stops at 200 kilometers per hour. The Polestar 1 sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.2 seconds.

The entry-4

For the time being, only long-range versions with a 102 kWh battery pack have been announced, of which 94 kWh can be used. This means you can travel around 564 kilometers in the fastest Polestar according to the WLTP measurement method. The train weight of the fastest 4 is 2,000 kilograms.

If you opt for the Long Range Single Motor with 272 hp and 343 Nm of torque on the rear axle, you can drive up to 600 kilometers. The sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour is a little slower: 7.4 seconds. The maximum speed is 180 kilometers per hour. No matter what version you have. You can charge the battery pack at any time with 200 kW on the fast charger. The entry-level model can tow 500 kilos less than the fastest Polestar.

The 4 Series is coming to Europe in early 2024 and is said to have a starting price of around 60 grand.
