The Tesla Model 3 has been on the market for six years and will receive a major update in 2024. A photo of the facelifted model is now circulating online, showing a cleaner, more aggressive-looking front end.
Of course we have to be careful. We’re not exactly sure if this will be the facelifted Model 3, but it looks suspiciously like it. It is not known where the photo was taken.
Tesla Model 3 with simplified front
What do we perceive? That the Model 3’s frog eyes have been replaced by sharp-edged light units that are no longer vertically aligned, but horizontally.
In addition, the current Model 3 has a curved line on the nose that suggests a grille shape. It’s gone. Only a small drawing remains on the front of the facelift car.
Make the production process cheaper
This aligns with Tesla’s goal of making the Model 3 cheaper to produce by reducing or simplifying the number of body panels and engineering components.
Conventional instrument cluster?
If we look through the windshield in this photo, we can see that the dashboard is covered. But behind the wheel, that camouflage seems to lift, potentially hiding a conventional instrument cluster.
On the current Model 3, the dashboard is extremely minimalist, with just one large, horizontal infotainment system and two buttons on the steering wheel.
Upgraded by Tesla in September 2023
Production of the upgraded Tesla is scheduled to begin in September 2023 in China and the United States. The updated Model Y follows a few months later.
