Dive into the price list: The Ineos Grenadier as a real Defender successor?

The Ineos Grenadier is said to be the true successor to the legendary Land Rover Defender. Now the car can also be ordered in the Netherlands. We are presented with a bath in the price list.

We love the current Land Rover Defender, but is it a true successor to the original model? Opinions still differ on this. If you ask the enthusiasts, the answer seems to be no. Anyway, Jim Radcliffe didn’t think about it and developed his own, real Defender successor: the Ineos Grenadier. You can read a lot about it on our website. Now let’s look at the gear and put it together.

Dutch Prize Ineos Grenadier

The Ineos Grenadier is available in the Netherlands from 68,650 euros. That’s still pretty good, isn’t it? There’s a catch: that’s the price for the gray license plate version. The gray license plate version is also available with a back seat and thus five seats, but you should be able to use the financial advantages of a company car. If you can’t do that and have to get a copy with an ordinary “yellow license plate”, you’re immediately at least 170,064 euros further…

By the way, only starting prices are mentioned on the Dutch website. If you want to know the prices for a specific version with selected options, you must request a quote.

Engines

The Ineos Grenadier is initially only available with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, a petrol and a diesel version. These are the well-known BMW blocks with outputs of 210 kW (286 hp) and 183 kW (249 hp). It is always shifted with an eight-speed automatic, in combination with all-wheel drive. A fine drive, but also a thirsty one. That explains the high price for ‘Yellow License Plate’ because then a mountain of BPM is added. In the long term, there will also be a hydrogen-electric variant, for which Ineos is cooperating with Hyundai.

Versions Ineos Grenadier

There are two basic variants of the Ineos Grenadier: the Station Wagon and the Utility Wagon. The latter is the gray license plate version, recognizable by the closed rear side window. The Station Wagon comes in two versions: the Trailmaster Edition and the Fieldmaster Edition. The former is fully geared towards off-road use, including steel rims and a snorkel. Of course, the Fieldmaster also holds its own off-road, but with its aluminum rims it looks a bit more civilized.

Equipment Ineos Grenadier

We choose the Ineos Grenadier Trailmaster Edition. Some highlights from the standard equipment are 17-inch steel rims with off-road tires, the snorkel, additional mounting options for (off-road) accessories, a ladder to facilitate access to the roof, an additional battery, external charging sockets for accessories, control panel with electrical preparation for further accessories and technically you have lockable front and rear differentials. There is also modern technology in the form of a reversing camera, parking sensors, heated exterior mirrors and an anti-theft alarm system.

The Ineos Grenadier comes standard in off-white. If you prefer something different there is a wide range of body colors to choose from. In addition to the usual black and gray tones, there are three shades of blue, dark green and very dark red. A special color is magic mushroom, a kind of light beige shade of gray. We chose it just because of the color name. The grey, red and the “middle” blue tone are metallic colors, the rest is solid paint.

Optionally, the roof can be finished in a contrasting color. Black is always possible, in combination with some body colors a white roof is also an option. A nice detail is that you can even have the ladder frame painted in a different color. It’s black by default, gray and even bright red are options. We rely on grey.

Then there are the wheels. If you prefer light metal, there is a 17 and 18 inch version available. If you want steel rims but a size up, the standard 17″ rims are also available in 18″. The lettering on the tire sidewalls will then disappear. We stick with the standard rims. As much rubber as possible around the rim makes sense off-road – and it also looks good. For the chosen version, the off-road tires are the only option.

There are basically three upholstery variants: the utility trim with black-grey fabric and leather upholstery in black or black-grey. The seat heating is standard in combination with the leather interior. If you really want to go off-road, consider the easy-to-clean Heavy Duty upholstery. We’re sticking with the standard upholstery, but ticking the heater. Cloth flooring and mats are also optional but we will leave these as is. We choose luxury in the “official” new Defender.

Lots of options Ineos Grenadier

You can have fun here too. We’re just saying what we’ve chosen, it’s too much to dwell on all the options. For the exterior we also choose the safari windows, extra tinted heat protection windows, the rock sliders to protect the sills, the roof rack with LED light bar, the integrated cable winch for weights up to 5.5 tons, the recovery kit and the trailer hitch. We are adding a luggage rack, the luggage management system and the table for the inside of the tailgate to the interior.
