Kia shows the EV9, a huge electric SUV

Kia has released images of the brand’s new giant SUV: the EV9. The visuals are very similar to the concept model we saw earlier.

Although we still know little about the model, the external dimensions were almost certain last year. At that time, the study was 5 meters long and had a wheelbase of 3.1 meters.

Such gigantic sizes are also to be expected for the final production model of the Kia EV9. Parts of the exterior can already be seen in the videos, but the Koreans have not yet revealed anything about the technology. What is known, however, is that the Kia is based on the E-GMP platform, which relies on 800-volt charging technology. The EV6 and the Ioniq 5 are also equipped with such an 800-volt electrical system and can charge with up to 230 kW.

The brand’s new gigantic electric SUV has to cover around 540 kilometers. Kia has not yet said how big the battery pack is. It is clear that the colossus requires a significantly larger battery pack than the EV6 (77.4 kWh) for this range.

Kia EV9 concept

While the two video clips might give you an idea of the design, the Kia EV9 Concept might give you a better idea of what to expect. In the video below, Autovisie editor Sjors ten Tije takes you to the concept model. It shows all the special design details. The final design of the Kia EV9 will be announced at the end of March. Kia says it will reveal all interior and exterior design this month.
