Xpeng returns with G9 and P7 and takes on Tesla

Xpeng, do you remember the brand? The Chinese manufacturer proudly released the P5 last year. However, the car was never delivered to Dutch customers. Now Xpeng is back! With G9 and P7, he competes directly with Polestar, Tesla and compatriot Nio.

You may already know the two models of the brand, the P7 has been delivered in China since June 2020 and was already at the brand’s Dutch headquarters. The G9 has been driving around China since 2022.

New start for Chinese Tesla competitors

But now the Xpeng G9 and P7 are officially coming to the Netherlands. The second attempt to conquer the European market is a bold step. After all, the two electric cars are quite a bit more expensive than the P5 we saw last year.

XPeng P7

The P7 is a luxury sedan that costs between €49,900 and €69,900, making it a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3. The Xpeng is 4891 millimeters long, 1937 millimeters wide and 1680 millimeters high (1670 millimeters for the version with double chamber air suspension). The wheelbase is 2998 millimeters.

The P7 is available in three versions. The model always has a battery pack of 86.2 kWh (82.7 kWh usable). This allows you to drive up to 576 kilometers in the RWD Long Range according to WLTP. The Performance and Wing Edition with all-wheel drive have a range of 505 kilometers. The battery charges from 10 to 80 percent in 29 minutes. Fast charging is possible with a maximum of 175 kW.

The four-wheel drive versions sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.1 seconds. The RWD takes 2.6 seconds longer. The maximum speed is always 200 kilometers per hour.

XPeng G6

The second model coming to the Netherlands is the G6. The car is a direct competitor for cars like the Polestar 3. The Xpeng is 4891 millimeters long, 1937 millimeters wide and 1680 millimeters high (1670 millimeters for the version with the two-chamber air suspension system). The wheelbase is 2998 millimeters. This model is also available in three versions. The RWD Standard Range costs at least 57,990 euros. The most expensive variant, the AWD Performance, costs at least 71,990.00. Whichever you choose, it’s a lot cheaper than the Polestar.

The two rear-wheel drives each deliver 313 hp and 430 Nm of torque. The Long Range comes with a battery pack of 98 kWh up to 570 kilometers with one battery charge. The entry-level model with the 78.2 kWh battery pack has a range of 460 kilometers. The small battery pack can be charged with a maximum of 260 kW, the more expensive versions can be charged quickly with 300 kW via the 800-volt vehicle electrical system. The two electric motors in the AWD performance version are good for 552 hp and 717 Nm of torque. The giant devours the zero to one hundred sprint in 3.9 seconds. The maximum speed of all versions is 200 kilometers per hour. The range is 520 kilometers.

The P7 and G9 go on sale starting today (February 3, 2023). Deliveries are expected in June 2023.
