BOVAG, RAI Association and RDC delved into the data again and concluded that the auto industry is still facing supply problems due to the shortage of computer chips. Nevertheless, the market seems to be recovering.
The most popular cars and brands in January 2023
More new cars were registered in January 2023 than in the same month last year. Last year the counter stood at 30,848 cars, now 32,845 new cars have been registered. This means that 6.5 percent more passenger cars were newly registered than in the same month last year.

BOVAG and the RAI Association assume that a total of 340,000 cars will be registered in 2023. That’s what the organizations expect because the manufacturers’ order books are full and deliveries are getting better and better.

As a result, more cars were registered in January 2023. The most popular car brand is Volkswagen. With 4,086 registrations, the Germans have a market share of more than 12 percent. Toyota, Skoda, Kia and Peugeot are also doing good business, but cannot match Volkswagen.
