Dacia Spring now also as a fat ‘GTI’

The days when manufacturers made even sportier versions of compact cars seem almost over. Or not? Dacia raises the curtain on a sportier spring with a tougher name!

Meet the Dacia Spring Extreme! Of course, that can only mean one thing, and that’s that the country’s cheapest electric car has gotten tougher.

44 percent stronger!

However, if you look at the facts, you can quickly contradict that. So let’s look at the upgrade relative to the regular version. Where the normal Dacia Spring has an output of 45 hp, this Extreme is more than 44 percent more powerful. Relatively speaking, this is a significant increase in performance. Just keep in mind that the Spring Extreme is still only 65 horsepower.

Because of this higher power, the Spring’s range decreases somewhat, although it’s not too bad. Due to a new transmission, this Extreme is only slightly less efficient than the regular model. Where the version with 45 hp reaches 230 kilometers according to WLTP, the range of the Extreme is 220 kilometers.

off-road look

This Dacia Spring Extreme will of course also get a different decoration. According to Dacia, it is more extreme to give the model an off-road look. Some accents are copper brown while the rest of the exterior is decorated with stripes and other decals. The copper-brown color also returns in the interior, for example in the seams and on the door panels. This Extreme version also replaces the Expression version.

The Dutch importer also puts a price on this Dacia Spring Extreme. After all, sales will start next Monday, if you want the more powerful version of the Spring, you should bring at least 23,400 euros to the showroom. The regular Essential with 45 hp costs at least 21,750 euros. In 2022, more than 1400 Dutch people chose this version. This ensured that 1 out of 4 Dacias sold in the Netherlands was a Spring.
