Car of the Year Nomination (1/7): Jeep Avenger, Prize Fighter?

The resolution for the 2023 Car of the Year election is approaching. As in previous years, 7 finalists were selected. Each day for the next seven days, we will be highlighting a contender for Car of the Year.

This year’s Car of the Year awards will take place on January 13th. Until then, the live stream can be seen via Autovisie.nl.

Jeep Avenger Car of the Year Finalist

The first candidate we highlight is the Jeep Avenger. The car is fully electric and under the skin is the same as the Opel Mokka-e and Peugeot e-2008.

The potential annual car has a 156 hp and 260 Nm electric motor that draws its energy from a 54 kWh battery pack. With this battery pack you can drive 400 kilometers according to WLTP. Fast charging is possible with a maximum of 100 kW.

While the Avenger is a Jeep, the EV lacks all-wheel drive. It features Hill Descent Control and Selec Terrain, which lets you switch the powertrain between Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud and Sand modes. The potential Car of the Year is much shorter than the 2008 (4.08m vs. 4.30m). This has advantages for the overhang and thus the approach and departure angle. It also holds its own on asphalt and doesn’t shy away from corners, but you can tell that its suspension is quite taut.

Despite the Jeep Avenger’s smaller design, you don’t get the impression that the car is smaller than the competition. Thanks to clever packaging, this Jeep uses every square inch. Larger adults can sit well in the back and luggage space is decent.

price fighter?

In addition, the Jeep Avenger is inexpensive. The richly decorated 1st edition has a price of 40,500 euros. In the video below, Jaco Bijlsma tells you whether your candidate for Car of the Year is also a real prize fighter.
