In 2022, an extremely large number of Chinese cars came out

Nio, BYD, Polestar, Xpeng, MG, we could go on like this. In 2022, many Chinese brands came to the Netherlands. These brands also introduced new models en masse.

That the label “Made in China” means something is cheap and of poor quality has been debunked. Nevertheless, there are many people who do not want to buy a Chinese car because they do not want anything to do with the country – as we read from many reactions on social media.

Nevertheless, the proportion of Chinese cars is increasing. Or rather, immense. In 2022, a total of 131 new cars were launched or presented. This excludes concepts, revised models, facelifts and concepts. The English car medium Motor1 found out how large the share of the individual countries and continents is.

47 percent of all new cars come from China

From January 1, 2022 to date, 62 new models have been launched or introduced from China, an average of five new passenger cars per month. That is 47 percent of the global total.

The Toyota Group presented the most vehicles in 2022 with 11 models. SAIC is number two with 10 models.

More Chinese and European SUVs

Most of the cars presented in 2022 were SUVs. More than 51 percent of new cars had this body shape. The manufacturers that have launched the most SUVs are: SAIC, Geely, Honda and Stellantis. Stellentis is the European manufacturer that has released the most cars. Alfa Romeo Tonale, Citroen C4 X, Fiat Fastback, Jeep Avenger, Maserati Grecale and Peugeot 408. The Maserati GranTurismo doesn’t count yet as the interior hasn’t been revealed yet.
