This is former Formula 1 Champion Nico Rosberg’s bizarre car

The name Nico Rosberg means something to most motorsport enthusiasts. The German-Finnish driver started vlogging on YouTube after his career and is now showing off his quirky new car.

We can call it Nico Rosberg’s Christmas present to Nico Rosberg. Shortly before Christmas Eve, the former Formula 1 champion received his new hypercar.

Rimac Nevera with 2,000 hp

And this bizarre car is no stranger, it’s the Rimac Nevera. The car has 1914 hp and is fully electric. This power comes from four electric motors connected to a 120kWh battery pack. This battery pack is located in a T-shape between and behind the two front seats.

From a standstill, the Rimac Nevera sprints to 100 kilometers per hour in 1.85 seconds. The top speed is a breathtaking 412 kilometers per hour.

Aside from being a bizarrely fast car, the Nevera also comes in a very limited edition. Owner Malte Rimac from the Nevera has built 150 units.

Full throttle in the tunnel

Nico Rosberg is a bit used to his Formula 1 career but that much power is a lot even for the F1 veteran. Despite all the power, Rosberg pulls the car fully open for the first time in a tunnel. Luckily, it – and the traction control – know how to handle the nearly 2,000 horsepower this car is hauling.

Crash with Rimac Nevera

In addition to all the power, he also uses that drift mode at the Rimac Nevera. In this mode, the ex-Formula 1 driver had no control over the car.

Nico Rosberg and Mate Rimac had previously met and in a conversation between the two, Rimac said: “There was a CTO of a big car company – one of the biggest car companies in the world – who was trying to get the Nevera to drift. (..) He lost control of the bike and hit posts that pierced the battery pack,” says Rimac. No one was injured in the crash, but it shows just how dangerous traction control can be on a 2,000hp all-rounder.
