Nio opens another battery swap station in the Netherlands. This time it’s Apeldoorn’s turn.
The Chinese manufacturer has just started selling cars in the Netherlands, but does not hesitate to invest in our market. The first battery swap station in the Netherlands was opened in Tilburg on December 1st. Two weeks later it is Apeldoorn’s turn.
Second battery changing station in the Netherlands
One of unique selling propositions is the possibility to change batteries with these battery types. That means you can not only charge your car via the charging station, but also drive to a power swap station for a full battery. Again, you can choose a larger or smaller battery pack.

The battery swap station in Apeldoorn is the size of a double garage and can carry out up to 312 battery swaps a day, says Nio. In the station, 13 packages with an output of between 20 and 80 kW can be loaded at the same time.
The battery packs are not only used for electric cars. Nio is also busy using the battery swapping station for energy storage. In the event of peak current (too much current) in the network, the battery packs can absorb this and also be charged more cheaply. At a later point in time, when more power is required, the power can be fed back into the grid.
Goal: 120 battery replacement stations in Europe
Nio’s second battery swap station in Apeldoorn is the ninth in Europe. Nio aims to operate 120 Power Swap Stations across our continent by 2023. However, it remains to be seen whether we will also exchange batteries en masse.
No ET7
Nio currently has one model in the Dutch delivery program, with two more to follow later. Autovisie has already driven the Nio ET7, which you can subscribe to. In the video below, Stijn Kuster takes you with him in the luxury limousine that you theoretically never have to load again.
