Dive into the price list: the Smart #1

The first model of the “new Smart” is the #1, a compact SUV model. The delivery will take some time, but with a look at the price list, the model is already presented to us.

Smart will do things differently. The partnership with Renault is exchanged for one with Geely and the first result is not a city car but a compact SUV. It goes by the name #1. Contains hashtag yes. Another difference from previous smarts is that Geely is not only a cooperation partner, but also half of the brand owner. From now on, production will also take place in China, at least for the Smart #1.

The Smart #1 is also a real in-house development for the first time, so it does not share its platform with a model from another brand. However, the design shows clear Mercedes-Benz influences, albeit with a playful touch. With a length of 4.29 meters, the #1 is slightly smaller than the Mercedes-Benz GLA, but should hardly be inferior to it in terms of interior space. In the back seat it should even be much more spacious. With a height of 1.70 meters, the #1 is also taller than the GLA.

Powertrain Smart #1

Like all future Smarts, the Smart #1 will be fully electric. A 200 kW (272 hp) electric motor with 343 Nm torque drives the rear wheels. If that’s not powerful enough, there is also the Brabus version. Thanks to an additional electric motor on the front axle, it has no less than 315 kW (428 hp) and 543 Nm. Good for a 0-100 time of 3.9 seconds where regular number 1 takes 6.7 seconds. The top speed is always limited to 180 km/h. Depending on the version, the range is 400 to 440 km (WLTP).

Smart pricing #1

The Smart #1 is available in four versions: Pro+, Premium, Brabus and Launch Edition. Prices start at €41,395, €44,895, €48,895 and €46,195 respectively. It should be noted that the Launch Edition is a temporary model limited to 1,000 copies. We will therefore ignore them for the time being.

Standard equipment Smart #1

As a Pro+, the Smart #1 comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, a fixed panoramic roof, tinted rear windows, a digital car key that can be shared with others remotely, heated exterior mirrors, leatherette upholstery and a rear seat that slides over 13 centimeters , a 12.8-inch touchscreen for operating the infotainment, ambient lighting with 64 colors and of course the assistance and safety systems that you can expect. Of course, the other models add even more luxury.

For our configuration we take the Brabus. Of course, this extra horsepower isn’t really necessary, but it’s fun and the additional price compared to the other versions isn’t too bad.

exterior decoration

In the Brabus version of the Smart #1, the combination of a black body with a red roof is selected as standard. Alternatively, you can invert the colors or replace the black with dark or light gray. The black roof can also be combined with a white or light gray body. Would you like everything in one color? Then only the choice between black or dark gray remains. We like the standard combination of black with a red roof.

Combinations with a kind of light green, bright yellow, dark blue and a kind of sand beige are also available for the other Smart #1 models. There is no additional cost for any of the colors.

interior design

The standard Brabus upholstery has been replaced with microfiber suede. There is nothing to choose from either, you get black upholstery with red straps and accents anyway. Even choosing a different body color does not change the interior. The other equipment lines also offer options, with a total of six interior variants available.

Lots of options

This is a short chapter as there are no separate options. Your choice of trim level determines what’s on the Smart #1 and what’s not. Certainly there are still separate accessories that are not listed in the configurator.

Assemble Smart #1 yourself
