Fans of the auction world will know that this Ferrari F40 ‘Competizione’ went up for sale earlier this year. It went on sale at RM Sotheby’s in America in August. The fact that the “Dutch” F40 is now appearing again probably indicates that it was not sold at the time.
This was once an original Ferrari F40 delivered to a Dutch customer in 1989 via importer Kroymans. It was red and only had the standard twin-turbo V8 in the rear with 478 hp. The F40 accelerates to 100 km/h in around 4 seconds and has a top speed of around 320 km/h.
Ferrari F40 adapted for the Kroymans track
Three years later, the F40 returned to Hilversum, where Cavallino Tuning, Kroymans’ racing division, converted it into a racing car.

Suspension, brakes, body and interior have been completely overhauled. After the operation, the F40 came out in a new color: yellow.
With Duncan Huisman and David Hart at the wheel
The Ferrari was bought by Dutch Racing Promotions in Blaricum. In 1993 and 1994 Duncan Huisman and David Hart drove the car, among others. But in order to remain competitive, the engine also had to go under the knife.

That happened in 1995, when power increased to over 700 hp. Until 1998 the F40 raced in the Ferrari/Porsche Challenge with David Hart and Mike Hezemans at the wheel.
The motorsport career of chassis number 80782 did not end there. The Dutchman Michel Oprey drove it until 2006, after which an Englishman took over the super sports car and used it on the race track until 2009. Ten years later, the F40 was transported to Italy for a thorough restoration and update.
Output of the biturbo V8 now between 700 and 1000 hp
The output of the biturbo eight-cylinder is now between 700 and 1000 hp depending on the setup. The current owner also opted to have the F40 repainted, from yellow to gray garbage bags.

RM Sotheby’s does not say how much the unique Ferrari will cost. Let’s hope it’s less than August. Then they could sell it.
