Dive into the price list: the BYD pliers

The BYD Atto 3 has already received the necessary attention, but its bigger brother BYD Tang can also be ordered. With a dive into the price list we get to know the new model.

After BYD made its debut in our country with city buses a few years ago, several passenger cars of the brand can now also be ordered. The BYD Atto 3 has already received the necessary attention in this category, but another model can also be ordered: the BYD Tang.

Large seven-seater SUV

This is a larger SUV model that can seat seven occupants. This time we put this model in the spotlight. For the sake of completeness: The BYD Han is also coming to the Netherlands, but cannot be ordered yet.

After the BYD Tang was introduced to the domestic market in 2018, the car made its European debut in Norway in 2021 along with a subtle facelift. Now it is the turn of the Netherlands, among others. Last but not least, BYD works with the Louwman Group for Dutch distribution.

main specifications

The most important specifications at a glance. No less than 380 kW (517 hp) and all-wheel drive are available as standard. The range is 400 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. In practice, the BYD Tang offers space for seven occupants and – still not a matter of course for an electric car – a decent 1,500 kg are allowed on the trailer hitch.

Starting price BYD Tang

To get straight to the point: the BYD Tang is available in the Netherlands from a whopping 73,300 euros. This can be explained by the fact that you get everything at once. There are hardly any options, there is an equipment line with all the trimmings. The Tang always comes as an AWD Executive.

Equipment BYD pliers

Some highlights from this rich standard equipment: 22-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry & start, sliding/tilting roof, electrically operated tailgate, heated and ventilated, electrically adjustable front seats, adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, 360-degree camera u Rear cross-traffic alert. Infotainment is via a rotating (!) 12.8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation via HERE.

(No) visual decoration

The only stress you have with the BYD Tang is the body color, because only this can be chosen. In addition to the standard white, dark gray and black, but also dark blue and red are available. There is no additional cost associated with any of the body colors. In the Netherlands, the rims are always painted in high-gloss black. There is no choice when it comes to the interior either: in the Netherlands you always get dark brown with a black leather interior.

Compose BYD Tang himself

With no options, the “composite” BYD Tang still costs €73,300, or €1,186 per month if you lease it privately through the brand itself. Since BYD only supplies the Tang in one version, the brand has already been able to build up stock. At the time of writing, the brand is promising that you’ll be hitting the road with your new Tang within two weeks. Interested? You can find the configurator at www.bydauto.nl.

The brand’s configurator is as simple as the equipment variant: the car does not show more than the body colors shown above. There is hardly any European press material left. The specimens shown below may differ in detail from the European BYD pliers.
