Please excuse us… We forgot to add “Mercedes-AMG One” to the title of our standard message. A record on the Nordschleife has now become such an item on the agenda that we don’t want to write a new text for it every time.

So the Mercedes-AMG One. The problem child of the Stuttgart company, which remained in development much longer than planned. Mercedes wanted to showcase its Formula 1 technology in a road car, but that turned out to be more complex than expected. The 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 with hybrid support was too noisy, idled too high and could not guarantee many kilometers.

Buyers of a Mercedes-AMG One do not earn miles

Luckily, buyers of such a hypercar hardly get any kilometers, so it doesn’t matter that the engine has to be completely overhauled every 50,000 kilometers. It’s a pity really, because with 1063 hp and a 0-100 km/h time of 2.9 seconds, the One should be spectacular.

Significantly faster over the Nordschleife than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS

To prove it, Mercedes drove the car to a record attempt on the Nordschleife. And it succeeded. After 6:35.183 minutes, the AMG One crossed the finish line of the more than 20-kilometer circuit.

Mercedes takes over the record from Porsche, who set a time of 6:43.300 last year in a 911 GT2 RS with Manthey Racing kit.

The Porsche 919 Hybrid still holds the absolute record

This is also much faster. The Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo holds the absolute record on the Nordschleife. The modified Le Mans prototype was more than a minute faster than the Mercedes-AMG One and clocked an incredible time of 5:19.546 minutes.
